project supported by Rhizome non lucrative association
Люблю я Кавказ
Lermontov
In 2010, I started a new clump of rhizomatous shoots in the explosive region of the
North Caucasus and Georgia, against a background of the high geo-strategic
stakes linked to oil, the struggle between the USA, Europe and Russia for political
influence, and the vague desires for identity that had resulted from the Islamisation
of the region. I used a Romanticist method, inspired by the Russian writer Lermontov.
Thus the rhizome grew away from me, leading me to discover the Other, the world
and contemporary problems, while putting them all into perspective.
Here are some extracts.
